I used to have terrible lower back pain from the curvature of my spine but after having a few lessons with Jane and committing myself to doing 15 minutes in the semi-supine position everyday, I feel so much better within myself. The curve is reducing every day, I have no more pain, I feel fitter, lighter on my feet and people have even commented on how well I look. Alexander Technique is great! I really look forward to my lessons, not just because Jane is lovely, but because I will leave after the lesson having learnt something that will benefit me for years to come.

The best thing about the Alexander Technique is that you can improve your posture and well being, and you’ll actually enjoy it! Rather than forcing your body into standing up straight, AT teaches you to release tension and unlearn bad habits. You won’t only look better, you’ll feel better.

I’ve often tried to improve my posture by other means (unsuccessfully), but I now feel like I’ve made some real progress using the Alexander Technique. It is also helpful for relaxation, stress relief and learning about the way your body works.

Just over a year ago I was suffering with a very painful neck which never seemed to right itself. I happened to be talking to a colleague who suggested Alexander Technique and not being one for taking painkillers of any kind decided to give it a try. It was the best decision I took. Even after just a couple of weeks my neck began to feel better and now I am pain free! Even though I don’t attend my lessons any longer, Jane, my teacher, had taught me so much about posture and how to ‘work’ my body in the correct way that if I find myself ‘slouching’ I at once check myself. Don’t expect an overnight miracle but I say give it a try work with your teacher and you will be very pleasantly surprised.
